To better serve the evolving needs of the community in Miami-Dade County and to meet the challenges posed by the AIDS epidemic, Mercy Hospital developed the Special Immunology Services department in 1993.

Funding for the various services offered through the program comes primarily from the Ryan White Part A Program, Medicaid Project AIDS Care (PAC) Waiver, AIDS Insurance Continuation Program and charity including Mercy Foundation funds. Mercy Hospital’s Special Immunology Services department is the only program that offers all three services to better serve clients’ needs. We are also an ADAP (AIDS Drugs Assistance Program) enrollment center.

Special Immunology Services' compassionate, mission-driven approach in assessing and addressing the needs of each individual client. Our program offers a network of quality-driven, HIV experienced physicians, ancillary providers, programs and services that will assist patient’s before, during and after treatment.
